Weefilm is a film discovery site built around one simple idea: the mood you're in matters more than a Metacritic score. Searching for a thriller to watch alone on a rainy night is a completely different ask from finding a comedy with your girlfriend on a Friday evening. Most recommendation engines treat these the same. We don't.

Every page on Weefilm is built around a specific combination of genre, occasion and mood — so when you land on a list, it's already doing the thinking for you. No filters to adjust. No algorithm to second-guess. Just a curated set of films that genuinely fit the moment.

02 — How It Works

How the recommendations are made

Every film on Weefilm is sourced from The Movie Database (TMDB) — one of the most comprehensive and community-maintained film databases in the world. We pull real titles, real cast data, real ratings and real poster art directly from their API.

Lists are constructed by matching each occasion and mood against genre and era filters. We don't invent recommendations or pad lists with filler. Every film that appears has been surfaced because it genuinely fits the criteria — not because it has a studio marketing budget.

Our Deep Cuts section goes further — combining genre, occasion, mood and era into over 10,000 distinct lists. Whether you're looking for a sci-fi film from the 2000s to watch alone on a rainy night, or a romance from the 80s to put on after a breakup, there's a list for that exact moment.

03 — Who Made It

One person, one phone, no budget

Weefilm was built entirely on an Android phone using Termux — no laptop, no team, no startup funding. It's a solo project driven by a genuine frustration with how hard it is to find a film that fits a specific mood, and a curiosity about whether a useful, well-structured site could be built from nothing.

The site is purely static HTML, hosted on Cloudflare Pages. It's fast, lightweight and built to rank — not to impress investors. If it helps you find one film you wouldn't have otherwise discovered, it's done its job.
